Blah blah blah

10360891-blah-blah-blahQuick question for the readers out there…

I’ve never been very good at following rules. Oh I adhere to laws and morals and things like that, but authority figures and I sometimes butt heads because I don’t always believe what I’m told. Sometimes I’m stubborn (shut up, hippie) and need to learn it on my own. And sometimes, I just ask others. This would be one of those times.

A few weeks ago heard the “proper way to blog” is once a week, once a day or three times a day—and it’s been stuck in a loop in the back of my mind ever since. We all know I’m not going anywhere near three times a day. And I currently surpass once a week with my theory of Monday introspective, Thursday thought provoking. But I’m wondering if I should attempt once a day.

If I did, I’d still keep Monday and Thursday, I like them. I’m a big fan of frogs and coffee creamer. But I suppose I could actually talk about writing, what I’m working on, things that annoy me on the commute, neighbors, grocery shopping or whatever. The question is: would you read it? And if so, if I’m blogging more often, would you want to hear about the shopping or the writing?

If I listened to others, others being you right now, what would you tell me? How often would you like to see my gray matter drip onto the internet and what sections of my brain would you prefer to see smeared across your screen?

What say you? Have an opinion…

I quite often find myself laughing when I read your blog,if you wrote more frequently (is that spelled correctly?) I would read it.

Kelli, I too have wondered about the proper way to blog and I even sent a question about it to this person who has had a blog a lot longer than me but they never got back to me with their opinion(s). So I did what I normally do in situations like that. I kept looking.

    Here is what I discovered:

There is no right way or wrong way to blog. I have not been able to find an official manual for blogging and I don’t think one exists. A person will blog what they want to blog about when they want. And in that light, the readers of the blog will either read the musings of a shambling, blathering idiot or they wont. That part was simple and easy to figure out.

On the other hand, the left one I suppose, there are a multitude of topics one can blog about. Me personally? I’m trying to work through some “Stuff”. Others I have noticed blog about sexual fantasies, movies, books, the consistency of their stool, car tires, food, which hollyweird celebrity is getting lipo from a llama, alien abduction, the state of the union, and many, many more topics which, for some reason I am not interested in. Unless they involve trains. I like trains.

And as You have discovered, only about 3 percent of the readers of your blog will post feedback at any given time. Oh, sure, they will read it while sitting at their desk drinking their overpriced hot milk with a little caffine thrown in for good measure and maybe even have some whipped cream with a little fresh ground cinnamon sprinkled on top and scratch their respective heads and wonder exactly what it is your talking about or even what poignant point your attempting to make. They may even go as far as asking a co-worker what the definition of a particular 3 syllable word is. But for them to actually return the favor in an interaction of thought and logical thinking? Nah. They get distracted by the latest celebrity magazine laying on the counter in the break room.

Course I could just be tainted, tarnished or God forbid, cynical.

As for me? What would I like to hear?

I only blog once a week because I just have no time. I do, however, check two blogs almost every day: yours and Brian’s. You’re the only two people I know of whose grocery runs could potentially provide better reading than many midlist horror novels…

First off… “rules” about blogging? Pshaw. You should not have to follow any “rules” when it comes to spouting off what’s on your mind!! Blog when you feel like blogging, I say! And I will read it, maybe not that same day, maybe just when I feel like it. *wink*

And for the record, I always love your blogs. *smooch*
