Good Morning, Sunshine!

Ahhh… the nighttime, sniffling, sneezing, coughing, aching, stuffy head, fever, how’d I end up on the kitchen floor medicine*. No wait. That’s Nyquil, and cold medicine does nothing for the Cap’n Tripps version of the flu that has swept through my town and snuck in the back door to infect both kids. Clear fluids and lots of sleep, that’s what we need. Because, it’s Coffee Talk time! Now, since there’s been a lot of waking up around here this week, let’s delve into that for this week’s silly but interesting question.

When you wake up in the morning, what is your first thought? Is it the last remnant of that dream? The song the alarm clock used to yank you from slumber? Plans for the day? What is the thought that follows you out of the nice warm covers, and mocks you as you stumble toward the welcoming coffee pot…

Mine vary–from the song to the dream to the “why don’t I have a coffee pot with a timer on it?!” This morning’s thought was, “Wow this floor is cold! Hey… wait… didn’t I have socks on when I went to bed?”

What’s yours?

*stolen from comedian John Pinette, because it’s not only funny but true!

“Who was that man? I wish he’d come back. Oh, crap. It’s far too bright in this room — I’ve gone and slept through the alarm again…”

  • Joseph Mulak says:

My first thought is: “Hey! Where’s my wife? Oh ya….she had to leave for work at 6 this morning. Sucker!!” Then my next thought is “I better stumble over to Starbucks and get a coffee then get some writing done.”

  • Cassandra says:

“Who is pulling my hair? Ouch that hurts. Hey, didn’t we just go to sleep like 10 minutes ago? Darn, someone get these baby fingers out of my eye…my nose…my ear….Why didn’t I get a baby that LIKES to sleep?”
