Hug-a-Horror-Writer… GIVEAWAY

It’s Hug-a-Horror-Writer Month!! Or at least that’s what I’ve been calling it… The Halloween season is a beautiful time for those who love all things dark and dreary, whether it’s a gore-fest of bloody exploding puppies, a quieter deeper creepier bent that crawls inside you and keeps you up at night, or a way to win a FREE BOOK just for giving a horror writer a hug!

tl;dr — Leave a review for a chance to WIN a FREE BOOK

The details: first, the book you can win. No one has the same TBR pile or even gets their fix in the same format, I get that. So the winner will get to choose not only WHICH book they would like to win among my titles, but which format they want (ebook, paperback, even audiobook in some cases). And all you have to do is share your thoughts on something you’ve already read!

So, how to enter to win? Easy! Leave a review and share it…

  1. Go to Amazon (this link will get you to all my books)
  2. Choose a book to review
  3. Give it some stars and a couple (or a lot) of words
  4. Share the book’s page on Facebook or Twitter (on the right side of the page you’ll see these icons
  5. Include “i just reviewed” in your sharing post
  6. Tag me in the post (@kelliowenauthor on facebook, @kelli_owen on twitter) or otherwise let me know you’ve done this (via tweet, fb, email, however)
  7. Your name goes in the hat once for each review

While you can (and should) continue to review beyond the drawing because it’s nice and authors really do appreciate it, I do have to set a date to award a winner… how about Monday, Nov 13? That gives you three week(end)s to formulate your thoughts and set them free in the world.

Go. Review. Win.

And thank you in advance for the hugs… H a p p y   H a l l o w e e n ! !

FLOATERS – on SALE

floaters-fb20

The ebook of my new novel FLOATERS is ON SALE for a limited time thru Payhip*  (use coupon code KO1601, sale ends Sunday 8/28)

Detective Carly Greene was only eleven when she learned Lake Superior was a brutal beast, capable of bringing up long forgotten memories of pain and death, by occasionally releasing the bodies of those trapped beneath her waves.

As an adult, Carly still despises the bodies occasionally coughed up, and the high water eroding the edge of the graveyard this year gave “floaters” a new meaning. But she could never have prepared for what else broke free to swim with those long dead.

Part myth. Part monster. Older than time.

Carly, along with the medical examiner and a local reporter, must find and destroy a forgotten legend in the waters at the edge of Lake Superior. Before it decides it’s time to feed. And breed…

This Week’s Rating: R (NSFW) — buttercup ratings system info here

In this episode… I talk about words ‘n stuff. How they’re used versus how they’re intended. Including who’s abusing them and who’s destroying them—as I 101 on contract verbiage, drop the f-bomb in a 2-1/2 minute audio of a video you should all at least watch once, vent about the tricky way people use, or don’t use, words, and wrap it up with a word we need to just get rid of. It’s a whirlwind…

New Release: THE HATCH

hatch-400x600dpi72THE HATCH
(stand-alone sequel to “Waiting Out Winter”)

Nick Kontis and his remaining family members have survived winter—have outlived the threat of deadly infected flies—and are heading toward presumed safety. They quickly find all exit points blocked, the perimeter burned, and learn the flies were only the beginning, as Mother Nature has stepped in to correct mankind’s mistakes.

Her weapon of choice: spiders.

With thick webs covering the spring landscape, and lack of any communication leaving them on their own to guess whether or not the spiders are as lethal as the flies they’re eating, they make a new plan. Fleeing in a new direction they run into another party of survivors. And what was once a breakdown of society becomes an exercise in rebuilding.

They’ll need to find common ground and bond with the others, before winter arrives again. Before the spiders declare victory…

Don’t Miss Out

xmasemail‘Tis the season…

Now that Halloween is over, we can start talking about the fat man in the red suit, and all the kindles, iphones with kindle apps, and amazon gift cards he’s going to give away this year.

To help the elves bring you goodies, I’ll be doing a couple sales during the holiday season… if you don’t want to miss out on a sale day when it happens, make sure you sign up for my emailing list asap…

This will notify you, via email, of new blogs when posted and help keep you in the loop during the season of too much spam, xmas popups from hell, and the rest of the deluge no human can possibly keep up with. And of course, you should follow my author page on Facebook for more frequent updates!

Hope you had a great Halloween… now let’s get the turkey ready and stock up on wrapping paper.

Share Me for Halloween

skullbook2Have you purchased one of my ebooks? If so, first and foremost, thank you. I appreciate your support and hope you enjoyed it. That said… you should share it!

When you have a physical book you enjoy, what do you do? You pass it around. Before ebooks, we did it all the time. You handed off what you enjoyed and told friends/family they should read it. Or you were the one borrowing from others. It was a beautiful tradition—even with the occasional rules about bending bindings and dog-earring pages. So why not do that with your ebooks? Why should this tradition be gone just because the book isn’t physical?

In the spirit of the season, why not give a friend a good scare? Go ahead… spread the love. Consider it Trick or Cyber-Treat to someone who may not have read my work before. I mean, after all, Amazon offers it and I agreed to it, so what the hell, let’s abuse it!!

At the top of the Amazon page for the book you’ve already purchased, above the title, you’ll see this:

Screen Shot 2014-10-27 at 9.01.30 PM

And clicking it gets you this lovely window:

loan2Fill it out, hit the button, and spread the love. Two things to remember: a. you can only do this once per book, unfortunately. b. they do not need a kindle to read it. For more details on the how’s or why’s, click here.

Happy Halloween, everyone!!!

ps: I will not receive payment or notification if you share, so please let me know if you do!!
