HFW

Home. Tired. Posted on Facebook because it auto-tags, and as that second word back there says, I’m tired. Thanks to all that stopped by and picked up a copy of The Neighborhood on it’s debut weekend (and/or anything else you may have snagged)—hope you enjoy it! Hugs to all the old friends & new.

Also, this marks the end of the 2011 con season for me. The blog will be returning to normal non-marketing-whore material for a while. I know. You missed it. You told me. I listened.

Happy Labor Day Everyone… I can haz nap now?

HFW Schedule

The Spookiest Show on Earth
Gettysburg, PA
September 2 – 4

It’s going to be a busy busy weekend!

The Neighborhood, my new novella through the newly revamped Thunderstorm Books Elemental Series (they’re in color now!) will be officially available this weekend… along with Robert Ford‘s Samson & Denial, and Mary SanGiovanni‘s For Emmy. Yes, we’ll have the softcovers with us. No, not the hardcovers. And of course, they’ll be available on the Thunderstorm site after the weekend…

When I’m not at my table in the celebrity room (that still sounds bizarre), batting my eyelashes and peddling my wares*, I’ll be in the vicinity of the Hippie during his signings, outside in the smoking section, or at one of the following scheduled events. I’m easy to find… short, loud, usually doing something either silly or that will end in a ridiculous injury that no one will believe.

FRIDAY

9:00pm – 10:00pm: Women in Horror – Authors Kelli Owen (moderator), Mary SanGiovanni, J.F. Gonzalez, James A. Moore, and Lesley Conner discuss the history and contributions of women in literary horror, and their future roles. (Reading Room)

SATURDAY

12:30pm – 1:30pm: Politics and Religion in Horror – Politics and religion are two things many prefer not to discuss, yet horror fiction examines them regularly. Authors Kim Paffenroth (moderator), Andersen Prunty, Ronald Malfi, Kelli Owen, Rio Youers, Norman Prentiss, and James Newman discuss why. (Outside – Rear Carport)

3:00pm – 4:00pm: Brian Keene and Kelli Owen (Reading Room)

5:30pm – 7:00pm: Author Q&A – Authors Tim Lebbon, Christopher Golden, James A. Moore, Brian Keene, J. F. Gonzalez, Kelli Owen, Mary SanGiovanni, and Thomas F. Monteleone answer your questions about anything in this no-holds-barred Q&A. (Outside – Rear Carport)

7:30pm – 8:30pm: Brian Keene presented with the Horrorfind Literary Award (Reading Room)

SUNDAY

1:00pm – 2:00pm: Robert Ford and Kevin Lucia (Reading Room)

And YES, I will have a fun item this year. No, it will not be a blood-covered nail this time. I’ve learned my lesson on airplane-friendly treats (Sorry Paula & Mark!).

Come to Gettysburg. Get a book. Have a good time!

See you all there…

*note: Bob & I will have the ability to take plastic, because we love you and understand that your cash is needed at the bar =)

Rumors over the fence

Yes… the rumors are true. While the official launch is at Horrorfind Weekend, this coming weekend in Gettysburg, The Neighborhood is available for pre-order at the following locations: Camelot BooksBad Moon BooksHorror Mall. Note, Thunderstorm is not listed yet, as they will be available there once orders are open.

That said, I am requesting—begging?—those of you who will be at Horrorfind this weekend, DO NOT preorder one of these. Yes, you read that right. The author doesn’t want you to buy one… well, not yet any way =)  Two reasons:

1. The bulk of the softcovers will be with us at Horrorfind. Yes “us.” Bob, Mary and I have most of the softcovers in our possession and will have them at the convention for sale, leaving very little for online sales. So if you’re coming to the con, please purchase from us there so that those that are not going to be at the con have the opportunity to purchase those for sale online.

2. The con price is slightly lower than the online price. Afterall, it’s a con price. So you get con price and an autograph… and again, leave the others for those that cannot be there.

I’m very excited about this novella. I’m very excited for Bob’s as well. But with a limited run, I’d like to make sure that people interested in a softcover all get one. And for those interested in the ebook format… well…

Ooops, gotta run! Time to practice my reading for HFW and make dinner. Again, please, if you’re going to be at the con, leave the pre-order versions for those that won’t be. Thank you!!

The Spookiest Show on Earth

September 2 – 4

It’s a little bizarre to think about, as I’ve been going to this con since the 2nd year as everything from a fan to the Wench back to a fan to a reader and finally for my first real reading. But this year, I’m honored to be invited as a Guest Author.

I will have a table in the Celebrity Room (with Brian Keene and Mary SanGiovanni), have a Reading slot (with Brian Keene), and will be participating in a couple panels (below). I will have goodies for sale (including an unannounced super secret special surprise) and will gladly sign anything you chose to bring (except diapers. I don’t sign diapers.)
