Join me, Brian Keene, Mary SanGiovanni, Chet Williamson, and Robert Ford for interviews, Q&A, readings, and whatever else may be up Jim’s sleeve. Dig around one of the coolest bookstores on the planet and see what kind of treasures you can find. Enjoy a full day of genre!

I will have: White Picket Prisons, Black Bubbles, the remaining stock of Waiting Out Winter and The Neighborhood, as well as a smattering of other goodies—including my own shelves in Brian’s corner of the store. Stop by. Say hello. And dress lightly… the stacks tend to get hot as hell during the summer months.

See you there!

White Picket Prisons

Detective Mark Baker is an honest cop and an all-around good guy. After a chaotic night, Mark starts to reexamine his role in the system he no longer believes in.

That’s when an ominous letter arrives from his estranged sister. She sounds distraught, suicidal. Her words send him on a mission to a small Midwestern town, uncertain if he’ll find her dead or alive.

Valley Mill is a quiet little utopia. Everyone gets along. There’s zero crime. On the outside, it’s exactly what Mark thinks society should be. But what Mark discovers behind the pristine fences and closed doors is far worse than anything he could have imagined.

And he learns very quickly to be careful what you wish for…

My latest novel AVAILABLE NOW… With cover art by Alan Clark. From Thunderstorm Books, White Picket Prisons is released as Black Voltage #16, Hard Rain #5 and in eBook format. Run don’t walk to the format of your choice…

I said contest, didn’t I?

The above image is a poster of Waiting Out Winter. 2 feet by 3 feet. Full text. Completely legible. Bottom right corner just waiting for a signature.

How do you get one? Well… you win it, silly.

If you already owned Waiting Out Winter and downloaded a free one just to show your support. Raise your hand.

If you downloaded one and got a friend to do the same. Raise your hand.

If you were somehow directly responsible for multiple downloads… simply say so in the comments here. i.e. owned already, made friends get it, told my kids I’d disown them if they didn’t. However you managed to be responsible, let me know. And then tell me why… Just to show your support? Dug the story? Hoping for a date? What was your reason for doing this…

And don’t worry if you haven’t yet…you’ve got until midnight, then the sale is over. I’ll draw the winner from the responses posted here (NOT on twitter or facebook—gotta simplify it somehow).

Cool poster, eh? Thanks to the hippie for that. Now then… who wants it?!

Hump Day Horror

Yep, it’s going to be one of those weeks… pimpity, pimp, pimp. But let’s make it fun, shall we?

Did you already read Waiting Out Winter? Did you enjoy it? Well hell, it’s hump day—show me some love!

If you’ve already read it, liked it, reviewed it, etc., today I’d love for you to go grab another copy from amazon for FREE and help me get these numbers up. I’m currently in the top 20 on Amazon free horror. And I’d love, for just five minutes even, to beat out Dracula. Because it would make me giggle.

And most of you like it when I giggle =)

Find out what the hubbub is all about. Beware the flies that are coming out of hibernation now that the weather is warm. And learn for yourself why the world doesn’t end with a boom, but rather, with a buzz…

It’s Spring today, and we should celebrate. Let’s call it my birthday present to all of you.

All I ask, leave a comment and rating after you’ve finished it. On the amazon page or on my message board. Let me know what you thought…

Nick and the boys return from the summer’s last hunting trip to find the streets empty, the beachfront and park abandoned, and the windows of their own homes boarded shut. The hunters have become the hunted, in an apocalyptic plague that pits man against beast—very tiny beasts. And Nick is determined to keep his strength, courage and family alive during what could very well be the last winter of their lives.

The 6th installment of the Elemental Series from Thunderstorm Books… Cover art by Nick Tripiciano… FREE for a limited time.

Happy Spring!

HFW Schedule

The Spookiest Show on Earth
Gettysburg, PA
September 2 – 4

It’s going to be a busy busy weekend!

The Neighborhood, my new novella through the newly revamped Thunderstorm Books Elemental Series (they’re in color now!) will be officially available this weekend… along with Robert Ford‘s Samson & Denial, and Mary SanGiovanni‘s For Emmy. Yes, we’ll have the softcovers with us. No, not the hardcovers. And of course, they’ll be available on the Thunderstorm site after the weekend…

When I’m not at my table in the celebrity room (that still sounds bizarre), batting my eyelashes and peddling my wares*, I’ll be in the vicinity of the Hippie during his signings, outside in the smoking section, or at one of the following scheduled events. I’m easy to find… short, loud, usually doing something either silly or that will end in a ridiculous injury that no one will believe.

FRIDAY

9:00pm – 10:00pm: Women in Horror – Authors Kelli Owen (moderator), Mary SanGiovanni, J.F. Gonzalez, James A. Moore, and Lesley Conner discuss the history and contributions of women in literary horror, and their future roles. (Reading Room)

SATURDAY

12:30pm – 1:30pm: Politics and Religion in Horror – Politics and religion are two things many prefer not to discuss, yet horror fiction examines them regularly. Authors Kim Paffenroth (moderator), Andersen Prunty, Ronald Malfi, Kelli Owen, Rio Youers, Norman Prentiss, and James Newman discuss why. (Outside – Rear Carport)

3:00pm – 4:00pm: Brian Keene and Kelli Owen (Reading Room)

5:30pm – 7:00pm: Author Q&A – Authors Tim Lebbon, Christopher Golden, James A. Moore, Brian Keene, J. F. Gonzalez, Kelli Owen, Mary SanGiovanni, and Thomas F. Monteleone answer your questions about anything in this no-holds-barred Q&A. (Outside – Rear Carport)

7:30pm – 8:30pm: Brian Keene presented with the Horrorfind Literary Award (Reading Room)

SUNDAY

1:00pm – 2:00pm: Robert Ford and Kevin Lucia (Reading Room)

And YES, I will have a fun item this year. No, it will not be a blood-covered nail this time. I’ve learned my lesson on airplane-friendly treats (Sorry Paula & Mark!).

Come to Gettysburg. Get a book. Have a good time!

See you all there…

*note: Bob & I will have the ability to take plastic, because we love you and understand that your cash is needed at the bar =)
