Wanted

Prereaders Wanted:

Must be thorough, honest, brutal, helpful and have decent turnaround—I’m pretty good with deadlines, but there will be occasional rush jobs. Need MSword and be able to hold your tongue regarding details until publication. Must be willing to break my heart and make me cry, but know how to do it with a smile. Previous experience with other writers helpful but not necessary.

I know, I know… not really a “question” so much as a “call” for a Garage Talk kinda Thursday, but I’ll make up for it next week. If interested, please respond below…

Mark would be perfect, although he doesn’t have experience with any other writers, I think he would do great. I could never break your heart or make you cry but he could. He has always said he would love to do this for someone . Just let me know…P

I would love a “gig” like this but I don’t have WORD! Good luck!

  • Bob Freeman says:

I’d be more than willing to take you up on the offer, Kelli.

  • Robin says:

No experience but would love to give it a try. :)

  • Brian says:

Any idea how much reading would be involved? I would be interested, but don’t want to commit to something and find I don’t have enough time to do it properly.

  • Dave Thomas says:

    Hi, Kelli.
Sounds like a cool gig. I was a copy editor and proofreader with Dorchester/Leisure for 6 years (until their demise), and my main focus was the horror line. I’ve worked on novels by Keene, Smith, Ed Lee, Ketchum, Daniel Keyes, Laimo, and Malfi. I’ve read “Waiting Out Winter” and “Six Days” and I’m an avid small-press collector; I’ll also be at Horrorfind this year.
    Drop me a line. :)
    Take care,
    Dave

I’d love to gain some experience in this area! I promise to be brutal, honest, constructive, and fair!

paula – tell him to email me.

stephanie – bummer, but hey, you get the copies for review =)

bob – no writers. you need to spend your time writing, not editing. <3

    burke - 2nd round. we'll talk later =)

brian - depends. i have several shorts, a novel and a new novella coming up. depending on deadlines, could be a lot, could be nothing for big chunks of time.

    dave - email me.

    alyn - we'll talk later =)

  • Hello,
My name is Jason McCurry, and I used to be a reviewer, interviewer, and media editor for a Paranormal magazine called Ghost! before it folded in 2007. I would love to do this, I have experience, and have worked in reading non-fiction works for publication. Though I haven’t worked with fiction, I read tons of authors in the horror genre, and would give a very honest opinion of work.

I’ve done many reviews and interviews with authors from New Page Books and other small press new age publishers. My reviews have appeared in several magazines related to the paranormal.

I have to many piles on my desk :(

  • Kelli says:

Not to mention… I edit YOU daily =)

  • Moder says:

I have Word, and an office job that sometimes includes sitting waiting for the phone to ring. I have not worked with any writers but I have a lot of experience breaking hearts and making people cry.

    Does that qualify me.

As far as being able to hold my tongue until publication, Nobody believes a word I say anyway.
