Hug-a-Horror-Writer… GIVEAWAY

It’s Hug-a-Horror-Writer Month!! Or at least that’s what I’ve been calling it… The Halloween season is a beautiful time for those who love all things dark and dreary, whether it’s a gore-fest of bloody exploding puppies, a quieter deeper creepier bent that crawls inside you and keeps you up at night, or a way to win a FREE BOOK just for giving a horror writer a hug!

tl;dr — Leave a review for a chance to WIN a FREE BOOK

The details: first, the book you can win. No one has the same TBR pile or even gets their fix in the same format, I get that. So the winner will get to choose not only WHICH book they would like to win among my titles, but which format they want (ebook, paperback, even audiobook in some cases). And all you have to do is share your thoughts on something you’ve already read!

So, how to enter to win? Easy! Leave a review and share it…

  1. Go to Amazon (this link will get you to all my books)
  2. Choose a book to review
  3. Give it some stars and a couple (or a lot) of words
  4. Share the book’s page on Facebook or Twitter (on the right side of the page you’ll see these icons
  5. Include “i just reviewed” in your sharing post
  6. Tag me in the post (@kelliowenauthor on facebook, @kelli_owen on twitter) or otherwise let me know you’ve done this (via tweet, fb, email, however)
  7. Your name goes in the hat once for each review

While you can (and should) continue to review beyond the drawing because it’s nice and authors really do appreciate it, I do have to set a date to award a winner… how about Monday, Nov 13? That gives you three week(end)s to formulate your thoughts and set them free in the world.

Go. Review. Win.

And thank you in advance for the hugs… H a p p y   H a l l o w e e n ! !

Black Bubbles

Available Now!

Horror is pessimism at its bleakest. Worst-case scenario. The darker side of reality. The glass half-empty. The situation unfathomable. In Black Bubbles, Kelli Owen presents classic genre tropes—ghosts, murderers, zombies, what you’d expect (sans sharks)—but it’s the characters, rather than the tropes, that experience the story, speak of the horrors, and sometimes survive the inevitable.

Sometimes.

An decades-old crime shocks a family as evidence points to one of their own… An ancient evil hitchhikes its way to freedom… A child has an unusual fascination with decay… A woman excuses premeditation… Death takes a holiday… Science and good intentions make horrific bedfellows… A man hides from nightmares that invade his waking world…

Over 60,000 words, including a handful of out-of-print, difficult-to-find previously published work, a plethora of new pieces, story notes, and Carson Ford interior drawings inspired by the title story. Introduction by Thomas Monteleone, Cover Art by GAK.

Gypsy’s Library

I love this picture. I found it by accident the same night I found the eggshell. Not only is it a cool library that I would love to have… I would totally live here! It reminds me of the tree I used to climb as a child and hide in to read. I dragged many a novel up that bark and sprawled across those limbs precariously to vanish into other worlds filled with monsters and mayhem and damn I miss those days on occasion!

Of course, for today’s purposes we’re just using it for a blog pic, but it was a good excuse to show you and toss a link for everyone to go check out what else Lori Nix has on her site.

The real meat of this blog is regarding my library. Or rather, my contributions to libraries around the world.

Yep, it’s a writing update. Boring, I know. But it comes with pretty art work and two links to more pretty art work =)

2010… from my mind to your library:

“Childhood Ghosts” short story coming up in the Halloween edition of Shroud.

“Where did all the Monsters go?” Article, also coming up in the Halloween edition of Shroud.

Now then… I’ll ask you a question next week. This week? Get a book, go climb a tree and read!

Vascular Access

ERdrawersHippie told me to write. I wrote. On muscle relaxants and pain killers. He laughed while taking care of me. He made fun. He told others. He video taped me.

And then Jersey said put it online.

Sooo… still jacked up on meds, I’ve decided to think about that. Three short stories, written while under the influence, sans any lucid editing. I’ll offer it as a pdf chapbook type download for $5.00 (oh shit, self-publishing!) and the proceeds will go to either my medical bills, a good lawyer, or bail.

Whatcha think? Ohhh… a question, and it’s not even Thursday! Would you buy it? Would you like to see what happened after the video the Hippie went and posted on facebook? “Vascular Access: A writer’s journey through pain management” bwahahahahaha uh oh. Meds are kicking in… time to write!
